You have reached the mighty and lovable Peridot, saviour of planet Earth and greatest of the Crystal Gems! If you wish to leave a message, speak at the sound of the mildly irritating high-pitched tone, and I'll attempt to make contact with your primitive communication device at my earliest convenients!

Beach City, Monday Evening, Fandom Time
Dec. 17th, 2018 08:18 pmIt had started with a video chat. With Peridot and Lapis calling Steven, because Lapis was worried that Steven had lost his phone during his last escapade to Homeworld, but Peridot was like, "No way! He's probably just ignoring us."
It had... kind of gone directly off the deep end in short order. He'd mentioned that he'd been put on trial in front of the Diamonds. Not just Blue Diamond. Not just Yellow Diamond. Both Diamonds.
He'd mentioned that he'd run away.
And that had led to Lapis turning to her with a sort of horrified resolve on her face.
"Peridot, we have to leave Earth now."
( Peridot was trying to talk Lapis Lazuli down when Steven arrived at the barn. )
[OOC: NFI/NFB for distance! Adapted from the Steven Universe episode, Raising the Barn. Hey look she exists! Kinda!]

Room 302, Wednesday Afternoon
Aug. 22nd, 2018 03:15 pmOkay. Peridot was packed. She'd delivered the robonoid that Kaidan had requested to the C.I.C. so that he could do... whatever with it. She hadn't actually thought to ask. And, since she had no idea when she was going to be back, or if she would even manage it within a human lifetime, she had one more stop to make.
Peridot made her way to Jason's dorm room door, a plastic grocery bag containing a weird, lumpy object in hand. There was a ribbon tied around it.
Occasionally, the object in the bag said, in a recording of Peridot's own voice, "Quack."
She looked down at it for a moment. And then she knocked on the door.
[OOC: For one!]

Room 213, Tuesday
Aug. 21st, 2018 08:12 amPeridot was packing.
Not that Peridot had very much to pack, after all. Her phone, a couple of boxed sets of Camp Pining Hearts, a ribbon, a bubbled corrupted Gem monster, some clothing she'd stolen from various outings and classes over the past two years...
Packing.
Why was she packing?
Well, she'd gotten a message from Steven. It was a vague one, something about the Greg being kidnapped and the Gems needing somebody who knew her way around a modern-era Ruby ship, and... well... Peridot knew that! She could definitely get a ruby ship in working order. She'd piloted far more impressive vessels in her lifetime, after all.
It didn't occur to her to maybe ask who had kidnapped Greg, nor did she particularly care. Steven had been upset, and... well. She wasn't about to leave Steven upset if she could help it. She was kind of fond of him, after all.
[OOC: Open post is open! Peridot's packing to go and is hitting expat mode pretty hard this semester. She might bounce into a few posts before she leaves, but this is the last post I'll likely be making for her on the island for a while.]

May. 22nd, 2018 07:20 amPeridot was a Gem on a mission.
Not even the mission where she had to rub the rock-licking thing in Jason's face because it was a totally normal thing for geologists to do. That mission, she was going to save for later.
No, no, her mission today was to smuggle something into Jaylah's room. Something big. Something beautiful. Something distinctly fishy and prone to singing happy songs about being put back into the water or not worrying or whatever. Not that she was being terribly secretive about it, what with the way it was tucked unceremoniously under one armpit, her tool kit sitting on the floor beside her as she thumped on Jaylah's door with one little green fist.
"Jaylah! Hey, Jaylah! Open up!"
Yeah, this wasn't going to end in disaster at all.
[OOC: For she of the shouting and beats!]

Gem Homeworld, Wednesday Morning
Apr. 11th, 2018 07:33 amSo far as stupid plans went, this one hadn't been going so great, so far. Portalocity had bounced Peridot and Rufus on a round trip across the multiverse, where they'd faced off against a dragon made of spaghetti, had stared in the eyes of a fifty-foot hamster and had survived to tell the tale, and, perhaps the most harrowing of all, had spent almost an entire day in a Portalocity terminal in a reality where everything made of wood went 'ping' every thirty seconds, without fail.
Peridot had argued a pretty solid case for Homeworld shunning all things organic based on their time spent in that world alone.
But finally, finally, their portal decided to spit them out in their intended destination, in an alleyway behind a rhodochrosite spire, within sight of a nearly-spent Kindergarten that Peridot had earned her Kindergartener certification in centuries before.
She squinted, and then stomped her foot on the ground a few times. Looked around. Picked up a stone from the ground and licked it.
"We're here."
[OOC: NFB! For one for great just-noodling-around SP.]

Time since Peridot's adventure in the Beta Kindergarten had passed by fairly uneventfully. She had Lapis had taken to bonding over episodes of Camp Pining Hearts, and when they weren't doing that (or making more meep morps), they were experimenting in farming. And tonight, Steven was coming over for a sleepover, which was the perfect time to show off their agricultural pursuits.
Steven arrived while Peridot was hard at work... mostly just driving around.
"Steven! I'm on a tractor!"
Peridot liked tractors. It was Paris' fault.
( Length and Spoilers! )
[OOC: Last of the canon, for now! Taken from Gem Harvest, or the first five minutes or so of it. I'm not writing out the awkward Thanksgiving dinner with the bigoted uncle, you'll have to watch the episode yourself for that.]

So, Jasper wasn't a problem anymore.

[OOC: Little bit of canon catchup time! Just a little bit, though. This post was taken from the Steven Universe episodes Beta and Earthlings. Room 213, Thursday Evening
Jun. 15th, 2017 09:21 pmTonight was one of the very rare occasions that Peridot could actually be found in her room. It wasn't that she didn't like having a space of her own (more or less, really, as she did have to share with Ahsoka), it was just that there wasn't much to discover in here when she could be out there, bossing around gremlins and attempting to steal ducks from the pond to disastrous effect.
For science.
But tonight she was a Gem with a mission.
A mission to introduce her toaster duck to her wood shop class duck to see if they got along.
So far, so... so... so-so. The robotic toaster duck and the carved wooden thing weren't exactly programmed with duck recognition in mind, so they kind of just sat there.
"Can one of you at least do something?"
"Quack," said her robotic toaster duck, in Peridot's own recorded voice.
It would have to do.
[OOC: Oooopen.]

It had all started with the Crystal Gems taking a break. A break! In building the drill! To save the planet! The work was so tantalizingly close to being done that Peridot had complained to Steven, vehemently. It had involved waving a little power drill in the air for emphasis. Which had, as most things around here seemed to do, inspired Steven to sing.
The difference is, this time, Peridot made an effort to understand why. And the whole thing had culminated in all four Crystal Gems sitting with their backs to the barn as Peridot showed off her take on the 'singing' that Steven had introduced her to.
"I guess we're already here,
I guess we already know.
We've all got something to fear,
We've all got nowhere to go.
I think you're all INSANE!
But I guess I am too...
Anybody would be
If they were stuck on Earth with you."
That one got a little grin from the trio of gems who were watching, and a cheer of triumph from Steven. None of them really noticed the portal that opened up nearby while Peridot was singing.
( Incoming Fandomites, Boop Boop )

The next couple of weeks were eventful for Peridot and the Crystal Gems. There was a drill to be built and a Cluster to be stopped, after all. And while there were hiccups - Peridot butted heads with Pearl, earned herself a short sentence being trapped in a baby harness, unwittingly insulted Amethyst, and found herself constantly repulsed by Garnet - things... started to come together.
( She hadn't actually seen that coming. )
[OOC: And more of the canoning! Now with special guests Rufus, Jalian, Tip, and Anakin! IT CONTINUES. NFI because distancey things!]

There was a light. A bright one, and out of it grew something that, if briefly, resembled a doll growing out of a green, triangular gemstone.
Peridot's feet planted squarely on the floor, her arm raised, her hand in a fist.
"--the Cluster, you insufferable half-formed traitor mega-clods!!"
( Wait. )
[THE CANONING CONTINUES. This time pulling from Steven Universe episodes 'Catch and Release' and 'When it Rains.' Those familiar with canon can probably tell when my hand started to feel like it was burning, but eh, whaddaya do. NFI for distance!]

Peridot was desperate. All of her ways of contacting Homeworld had been exhausted, shattered by the Crystal Gems. They'd almost caught her, too, and she'd paid the price for it. Now she was down one foot. She had no means of calling Portalocity for a quick duck-and-cover out of here, and no way of knowing if her distress call had even been received, let alone replied to.
It was time for desperate measures. Stupid measures, yes. But at this point, what choice did she have?
Her eyes narrowed a little as she crouched down at the foot of the Steven's bed. Enemy territory.
( She had no choice. )
[OOC: More canon! This time taking from the Steven Universe episode, Catch and Release! I am nowhere near done and am unapologetic for that fact. NFI due to the whole being in another reality and not having a body... thing.]

Peridot's brilliant 'get back to Homeworld before the traitors or the Cluster kill me' plan wasn't going so well. She hadn't gotten any reply at all from the distress signal that she'd sent out, and by the time she'd returned to the Communication Hub to see what had gone wrong... it had been demolished. Smashed to rubble and beyond repair.
Now she was at the Galaxy Warp, trying to fix the shattered warp pads. All she needed was one that would get her off of this planet. It could go anywhere that the Gems had ever been to, and she'd take it!
( Stupid broken warp... )
[OOC: The CANONING continues! This post has been brought to you by the Steven Universe episode, "Friend Ship." NFI establishy goodness!]

The permafusion had found her. Like... like it was nothing, she had found her. Had spent the weekend trailing behind her around the island, knowing that Peridot was right there, and if there was ever a more efficient way to terrify a stranded Peridot than that, this particular Peridot didn't know what it was.
But she did know that the island was no longer safe. And the only place she would be safe would be back on Homeworld. If she were to follow the Garnet's footsteps back to that particular version of Earth, then perhaps she could at least find some sort of abandoned Gem technology to send a distress signal back to Yellow Diamond. At this point, it seemed like her only hope.
And so, with her shoulders squared and a handful consisting of all of her earnings from Stark's, she made her way to Portalocity.
"A large individual with square hair most certainly used your services over the course of this weekend. I need you to send me to where she went."
( She was going to get off of this rock before it killed her in one way or another. )
[OOC: THE CANONING BEGINS. Ahem. Peridot's message is going to take a while to get to the island, so this sucker is just establishy goodness, with that second chunk taken from the Steven Universe episode, "Cry For Help," and a bit of alluding to "Keeping it Together" for good measure.]

"Log Date, 6-4-2. The island that my escape pod landed on continues to travel from world to world, and Homeworld remains out of sight. As long as the fragment of Earth that I'm trapped on continues to land on planets that aren't Earth, I should have plenty of time to try to locate a Homeworld warp, or at least some means of communicating with somebody back on Homeworld. In the meantime, my efforts to piece together a rudimentary understanding of Fandom Island's local human population remain ongoing. The Gratuity has been helpful in assisting me with finding materials for better understanding the local written language, and the Rufus explained to me the concept of human aging. I find the process to be... disturbing on multiple levels, though his explanations do fall in line with my admittedly limited understanding of human bodily operations."
She frowned thoughtfully, walking back and forth a few times with a heavy 'clank clank clank' every time her feet fell while she waited for her screen to stop glitching on her. When it stabilized again, she continued her recording.
"There are... flaws... in the human design that make me wonder how they continue to persist as a species. But my recent expedition into the local settlement of 'Knothole' reaffirms that those flaws are consistent to most organic life." She wrinkled her nose. "The local species here do differentiate themselves from the island's human population in that they immediately recognized me as non-organic, and their immediate hostility toward me when I confirmed their observations leads me to hypothesize that this planet, Mobius, must have had interactions with Gems before."
Or something something... robots. Peridot frowned and paused in her recording to tap experimentally at a crack on her visor. She'd missed a lot of what the local organic beings had been saying as the blue one spun at her in a way she'd only ever seen certain varieties of Quartz do before. Much of it had sounded mocking and jubilant, but none of it had seemed terribly inviting.
"Make a note to learn what a robot is. In the meantime, I have no intentions of visiting Knothole again. There's a largely non-organic city on the horizon that looks far more inviting, anyway. Peridot, Cut-5."
And then she closed her screen and started stalking back toward the island.
She hated this mission.
[OOC: Open! Feel free to bump into the grumpy Gem as she stalks back to Fandom from her short-lived visit to Knothole!]

Homeworld Warship, Earth's Orbit, Friday
May. 6th, 2016 02:55 pmThis was not how things were supposed to go.
Peridot had come back to Earth so that she could check on the cluster experiments, and this time, she'd come prepared. Thanks to the intel that the Lapis Lazuli had brought to Homeworld, she'd been sent with a proper warship and an escort, a Jasper, who had made quick work of the renegade Gems who had been fouling her research and destroying her equipment. The Jasper had even taken them prisoner, and things had been looking up! They had been!
... Relatively.
