Room 302, Wednesday Afternoon
Okay. Peridot was packed. She'd delivered the robonoid that Kaidan had requested to the C.I.C. so that he could do... whatever with it. She hadn't actually thought to ask. And, since she had no idea when she was going to be back, or if she would even manage it within a human lifetime, she had one more stop to make.
Peridot made her way to Jason's dorm room door, a plastic grocery bag containing a weird, lumpy object in hand. There was a ribbon tied around it.
Occasionally, the object in the bag said, in a recording of Peridot's own voice, "Quack."
She looked down at it for a moment. And then she knocked on the door.
[OOC: For one!]

Contemplating the fact that the other half had been empty for a while now, mostly.
"Hey, what's up?" he greeted as he opened the door to find Peridot standing there.
no subject
It kinda wasn't. But anything was important business if you put your mind to it.

"I don't know," she admitted. "Steven's father is gone. They need someone who understands how to fly a Ruby ship. So... until that's sorted out. But I'll have my phone." She fidgeted for a moment, and then perked up. "Oh!"
She thrust the little package up toward Jason, wide-eyed.
"And there's this! You need to take this!"
Quack.
no subject
"Did that bag just... quack at me?" he asked suspiciously. More accurately, did it SAY the word 'quack' in Peridot's voice?

Look, the last time she'd taken the duck out of her dorm room, Lucille had attempted to pitch it into the ocean because it wasn't duck enough. Her duck needed love, here.
no subject
Besides that, actual ducks didn't say quack, they just quacked.
no subject
Also fortunate was the fact that the roboduck didn't need to do it.
"Well, open it and find out," she encouraged. "... It needs a home."
no subject
"You made this?"
no subject
The duck said 'quack.'
"I put it away after Lucille tried to throw it into the ocean," she replied. "Apparently it's not a very good robot duck."
It was amazing and Lucille could shut her mean face.
"If you don't like it, that's fine, too. It doesn't swim or fly, it just walks and quacks and eats bread."
And made toast.

"It's the best robot duck I've ever seen," he said honestly.
He'd only ever seen the one, of course, but details.

Look, Peridot worried about you, Jason. This was way less about who would take care of the duck, and way more about who would take care of you.

Unless she got poofed and had to wait months on end for the next season to air.
"And in the meantime, I'll call!"
Probably at all hours of the night, because she never really had gotten the hang of things like sleep schedules.

"Yeah," Peridot replied, smiling a kind of silly little smile. "Yeah, I know."
And she wasn't going to out and say it, but it kind of gave her all kinds of warm squishy feelings that she still didn't entirely know how to handle.
no subject
"Hey," he said, crouching down so he was closer to Peridot's height. "C'mere." You weren't getting away without a hug, 'Dot.
no subject
Peridot was pretty sure she knew what this was about. She'd only had a few of them since arriving on Earth, but there weren't many reasons for anyone to crouch down to be at her level, besides.
Still, she looked a tiny bit uncertain as she walked over to Jason and held open her arms, not wanting to many any incorrect assumptions all the same.
no subject
"Take care of yourself, okay?" he said, not letting go just yet.
no subject
She'd miss you, Jason.
